Hidden Valley Ranch – FROM NICHE PRODUCT TO TOP-SELLING DRESSING

Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing was born as a recipe on a dude ranch in Southern California. It was so loved by guests, it was soon made available in dry packets that you mixed with fresh buttermilk. Eventually, the brand was sold to the Clorox Corporation. It was at this point that Kirk Kirkpatrick became involved as creative director  at Young & Rubicam in San Francisco. Because not everyone has buttermilk around when they need it, the product was soon introduced with a milk recipe and that was the beginning of its meteoric rise. The next logical step was make it even more convenient by selling it in a bottle and Kirk wrote and produced the introductory campaign that changed the brand forever. Soon, line extensions included Fat Free flavors, kid’s flavors and even Hidden Valley Ranch dips. Now there’s a bottle or two of HVR in most every fridge in America, and Original Ranch can proudly claim to be the reason millions of children first got to love salad and fresh veggies.
